Strathearn Heights Redevelopment

Strathearn Heights Apartments have been home to thousands of tenants over the past 60 years. The owners are committed to investing the time and resources needed to ensure individuals and families can keep enjoying life at Strathearn Heights for generations to come.

To make that happen, over a number of years the current apartments will be replaced, in stages, creating a unique, beautiful and vibrant urban village featuring:

  • a community hub and a central focus point for the community
  • a central public common for use by the whole community that complements and connects with a variety of other neighbourhood public places
  • enhanced recreational amenities
  • a diverse mix of residents from families to seniors
  • a diverse economic mix of condominium and rental units
  • a modest expansion to neighbourhood focused retail
  • front doors on the street in keeping with the existing neighbourhood
  • "eyes on the park" green space strengthening the safety and security of the neighbourhood
  • a walkable community establishing and enhancing connections within the community to transit stops and to the river valley

City Council approved these plans in February 2008. Since then, the owners have been busy completing arrangements with the City and preparing for on-site work. While no specific date is set for on-site work to begin, it is anticipated that some activity will begin on site by late 2009.
